Hi, thanks for noticing :)

She is actually the grand-daughter of my Cremello stallion FF Regalo de Oro.  Her sire is SRNZ Valiente (palomino) who is by Regalo out of Suavecita de RT (bay)

The dam is of this filly is FF Ayacuchana - her color Black Pearl.  This foal is Buckskin Pearl and I believe is the only horse if this color in NZ.

The Pearl color is one that hides until it meets itself or cream and then you get some strange and interesting colors.

This is why I started the Pearl discussion page ages back, as I'm sure there are quite a few PPs out there where the owners are not sure what color to describe it as for registration.  I am interested to meet others who have 'odd' colors and maybe help them identify them.

double Pearl can look similar to some of the Dun colors... but not quite and Cream/Pearls (lie this one) can almost look double cream dilute.

I know i rave, but i believe a better understanding of colors and where they come from will go a long way to removing the color prejudice that a surprising number of people have in the horse world in general.

Lets face it.... the double cream is marked down and overlooked - even frowned upon - no matter how good a horse it is, when really its only a double palomino/buckskin etc.... which many people like!

I hope this brings forward a few more Pearl owners.... I'd love to know the lines that carry it :)
