Sometimes things we think are misfortune turn out to be a great gift. I'm glad you have a good horse to get you back in the saddle.
Funny though, I have a large horse (16.1) when I dislike trail riding on horses over 15 hands (I prefer ~14 hands). She's awesome though in that because of her size and temperament, I can take a couple young kids with me, it lets me ride when I can't get a babysitter, lol. So she's been a gift in disguise as well. She's been perfect for me, and even though she's not gaited, her trot is smooth. Right now I can't ride though as I have problems with my hips and it gets too painful to ride when I'm pregnant. :(
