I need advice on buying a Peruvian!!

Posted on March 24, 2009 at 7:53pm 8 Comments

I have sold my gelding with way "too much go." I feel I need someone to help me pick out a horse so I don't buy the wrong one again. It breaks my heart to have to sell a horse. I want to make a decision I can stick with. Is there anyone out there with advice?

Hi Cheryl!

Don't know if you have found another horse yet, but if you would email me privately I would be willing to share information with you in regards to your quest for a new PP. I live in Manitoba, Canada, not that far from you in Minnesota.

If you have alrady found a new horse, then many Happy Trails to you!

Best, Pam J

His name is Comandante Primero and I call him Dante. Dante is willing and ready to bond with his owner/rider. He has been started with natural horsemanship and has cooeprated fully. Last summer he was ridden lightly by his trainer. He spent the winter relaxing with pasture mates. So Dante is at the maximally optimal point where he is ready to go in any direction you want to take with him. He has had no negative experiences and he hasn't been overworked or soured.

Hello Cheryl,

You will have to bring your horse and self down when the weather is nicer.
I am not at the arena in BRF, I moved out to our place in the country and built an arena here. It works well to leave from our place for miles and miles of wonderful trails.

Cheryl, Welcome to Peruvian Horse World! Glad to have you join us here.

I see you would like advice on how to get your horse to relax on trail. This would be a great question for our "Ask The Trainer" segment, where you can ask professional trainers of Peruvian Horses for advice.

If you need any help getting the most from the site, just let me know. PHW Admin
