About Me:
I am a hunter jumper trainer that found Peruvians in 2002. I shared my passion with the parents of my students and that resulted in many folks purchasing horses. I would say that now 90% of my business is Peruvian related, training, lessons, and sales. of the easiest horses to ride, one of the most difficult to master.

My horse Me Llamo Altanero made it to the finals of America's Favorite Trail Horse and were featured on the Television Show by the same name, on HRTV in Sept 2011. I bred and have raised Amor del Dios who is becoming a dream horse. He is just 4 years old and does tricks, pulls a cart, and was CH of CH performance gelding at his first show in the bit!
I am a:
Owner, Breeder, Trainer
I am a Member of These Associations:
NAPHA, Los Amigos, Central Coast Peruvian Club, SCPPHC
I would like to meet:
Anyone interested in this breed. I have horses that can be tried and are appropriate for first time riders!

Charles Wilhelms Ultimate Super Horse Challenge

Posted on July 10, 2014 at 2:30pm 0 Comments

About 5 weeks before the event, I saw a facebook post about Charles Wilhelm's  Ultimate Super Horse Challenge in Sacramento on June 12-15 2014 .   Intrigued, I went to the website to find that applications were still open, and a clinic was going to be held in nearby Hemet Ca about 1 month before the event that would prepare riders.  So I signed up for the clinic thinking maybe this would be a fun way to promote the Peruvian Horse in a new way and just in case I could get accepted into the…

AFTH Freestyle Day 3

Posted on May 22, 2011 at 11:14pm 1 Comment

So after the big trail ride with Mark and Dusty we came back to find out that the guidelines for our freestyle to be shot on Wednesday would now be two minutes long because a big thunderstorm was forecast for the afternoon.  Also, the requirements had changed from performing a certain number of obstacles to having full artistic license....other than we were required to NOT be bridleless nor stand up on top of our horses.  After all, this is America's Favorite trail horse and riding down the…

AFTH Trail Ride with Mark and Dusty on Day 2

Posted on May 17, 2011 at 11:28pm 2 Comments

After our Obstacle Garden ride we had time to see educational clinics.   The person I most wanted to meet was Guy McLean.  If you have not seen his demo, you must watch one on Youtube.  He is a self taught Australian with an invisable way to control his horses.  The climax of his show is one horse is on the ground and he sidepasses over her with three other horses invisably in step.  For us he broke down some of the behaviors so we could see the training steps behind them.  It was…

Thanks for the Welcome Jody! And to think we even spell our names the same, now that is rare.....

I've been a Peruvian Paso Owner for an entire 2 weeks and I'm scheduled to ride in the drill next week at the San Antonio Rodeo. Only possible due to the fact that this breed is so kind and willing because I don't have a clue when it comes to gaited horses. I am trying to learn and they do make it easy. The people involved have all been wonderful...I'm having a blast!!!

Hope we get to meet someday..

I'm not surprised to hear that Vista has really grown up a lot. At least you still have the views. So do you get to get out and trail ride any? That is my favorite thing to do. In a week and a half, I will be headed down to Big Bend for a trail ride. I have never been down there, so this is going to be a really big treat for me. I will try to post some pictures when I get back. You have a wonderful day.

I noticed that you live in Vista California. I lived there for a short period of time about 29 years ago. Oh my how time has flown. We used to be able to look at Big Bear from our kitchen window. I bet things have really changed since then.

Hi Jody,
Thanks for the Welcome! I am sure we have probably run into each other in the barn aisles. I will likely be at the Garayar barn this summer grooming a few horse and maybe...just maybe getting in the show ring! I think I am finally starting to get the hang of riding these beautiful horses, but I have a looonnng way to go. I think changing breeds has really helped challenge and improve my horsmanship. I hope to be able to buy a show propsect as soon as I can pull the resources together. Let me know the next So Cal show you'll be at, I would love to stop by and say hello. - Denise

Yes Malinche has lost a lot of weight since I got her in the new place, but her peruvian saddle is made for a small horse and rider so that should be alright I think but I will ask the breeder about her mouth is she knows anything. I will also ask her to come down from her mountain and if she can see what I'm doing wrong. I just hope that she and I soon can get back to the way we where when she still stood at the breeders place.
Kind regards,

Hey Jody! Great to hear from you! Hope all is well with you. We have had a horrific winter so far.. we had 3' of snow for 3 weeks, (actually STILL have piles around) then it warmed up, started melting, then RAINED forever... and we had FLOODING! Our access to town was cut off, but we are up high on a hill, so did not personally have flooding. I lost a shelter in the snow though, and sadly, a horse... Storm's momma. She took a freak fall and had a bad break on her hip (came through the skin) so we had to put her down. :-( It's funny how things work out though... because I'm SO glad we still have Storm. I'll never sell her now... I gave her to my son as a replacement (Indy was his horse). She's HUGE... I'll have to send you new pics. Email me, would love to hear from you.
