Topline is muscle, so that requires protein, work, and time. You may want to look into getting a gel pad to lay underneath the saddle (on top of pad) until his back toughens up. Just start out slow, but be consistent with the work. If you can lunge and get him to really stretch out and use his back, that will help.

Kelly, he is looking great! Just needs that topline built up, but that will come. You are doing a great job with him :)

Well, we will both be working with our new Peruvians. Aleta has decent weight, just no muscle whatsoever. And she was allowed to boss her previous owners (the ones I rescued her from), so I'm working with a little attitude. But she should be amazing and I may just have to keep her ;)

Did he arrive??? I can't wait to see pictures of him!!!

Thanks! And so is he! Aleta is 11, awesome bloodlines, quite a bit of termino, and smooth as butter. She would be incredible for trail and show. I wish I could keep her, but I have my hands full with the horses I have, and am pretty partial to riding Bree and Vista. But I had to take her because she was in a very bad place and the people who owned her didn't have a clue. She had them totally buffalo'd, and they were obviously afraid of her. She tried a couple things with me (just disrespect), and I let her know immediately that was a no-no. She's very responsive!
