Please see the Photos from the Salt Lake Peruvian Independence Festival on the main page where Orrill, just 6 years old, is riding Aside.  She was a HUGE hit and a great Youth rep for the breed and aside riders!

See photos from the Creede, CO 4th of July Parade on the main page and in photos. Two members of the Texas Ladies Aside riding sidesaddle in the parade. :) Alice

I am seriously contemplating getting a sidesaddle and mastering the art. We have the perfectly mannered Peruvian gelding to work with in this type of riding. Any ideas about where to obtain a good used Peruvian sidesaddle?? Also where do you buy the proper apparel?

Dear sidesaddle ladies, I will be in Seattle from July 9-18 (I live in New Zealand), would like to contact any Peruvian breeders/trainers or owners in the area so that I can join in a couple of lessons or training for groundwork/riding/aside especially. Would you please let me know if you live in the area. Thanks, Tobi

Hi Kelly, so pleased with your lovely performance at the national show sidesaddle! Loved your costume and high heels too! I am proud to see you doing the finals aside. I love riding aside--will get my saddle from Peru later this year. Best Wishes, Tobi

I hope someone else rides sidesaddle this year! I am begining to think that I am alone in doing so as there does not seem to be many of late.

Probably not. I love to, but most classes are qualifying, and Coronado goes to the ch of ch classes everywhere, and my younger mare isn't ready yet. I may pull my 17 yr old stallion out of the barn, if I do, hes a great sidesaddle horse.

It did not have a breakaway stirrup, but the leather was able to come off the saddle - that is what saved me. Needless to say, I don't ride sidesaddle without a breakaway stirrup!

That could well be, but my right hip and knee always hurt after a long demo with tight manaeuvers -- or a practice trail ride around our neighborhood. I would have welcomed something to grip with my legs! (my SS is an older one brought in from Peru).
