I am a lover of all horses. My New Forest pony had 'DSLD'.
I would like to email Rich Ovenburg to suggest a contributing factor that I have suspicions about. The diagnosis of my pony has bothered me for sometime.
I promise you I am perfectly sane, I just want to get to the bottom of this ghastly affliction.
My pony was such a beautiful boy, I owe it to him to try to find an answer. VBW

welcome to PHW :) The topic of DSLD is a hot potato amongst the PP fraternity and down right denied in some other breeds.
I am in New Zealand and i have PPs and breed them. The whole DSLD thing is a big issue for us down here as there are a number of VERY 'symptomatic' horses in Aus, I also know someone who owned a definite case. There is a great yahoo group mailto:DSLDfirstname.lastname@example.org with lots of info etc. I know the group (if you haven't already found and joined them) would be interested to hear from you.
I am very interested in what you have to say and would love to hear from you with the ideas and info you have about the condition - the group refers to the condition as D/E. I find it VERY interesting that the New Forest breed has it amongst them.... and very sad too :( I have a friend from England who loves the NF ponies and has told me quite a bit about them; its great the way they manage and preserve the breed.
